Small Business Tax Breaks Now 50%

The announcement that the Small and General Business Tax Break is to be increased to 50% may have been missed by many during the budget.

The Investment Allowance from the Australian Government passed through parliament last week and is about to become law. It gives businesses a strong incentive to accelerate any hardware purchases.

For smaller companies with annual turnover less than A$2 million, the investment allowance legislation has changed dramatically. Eligible assets worth more than A$1,000 (ex GST) purchased before the end of December this year, and installed by 31 December 2010, will attract a bonus tax deduction of 50% of the cost of the asset.

For companies with annual turnover greater than A$2 million, purchases of any eligible asset worth more than A$10,000 (ex GST) before the end of June this year, and installed by 30 June 2010, will be entitled to a bonus tax deduction of 30% of the cost of the asset. For purchases made after 30 June 2009, the tax deduction will drop to 10%. Therefore it is important to note there is less than five weeks to place orders to get the maximum tax advantage.

Microsoft Windows Server Update Services (WSUS)

Microsoft Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) facilitates the automation and deployment of Windows updates to all your Windows PCs.

By using WSUS, Comcity Technology can fully manage the installation of updates that are released through Microsoft Update Site to all computers in your network. WSUS updates are "staged" on the server with bandwidth being conserved as each update is scheduled to be downloaded once. WSUS also provides a central point to see the status of Windows patching across your network.
